Do you know the difference between Netbook and Notebook?

Many of us use the terms netbook and notebook to refer laptops simultaneously. Are they same? Is there any difference between them? In this article, I am trying to show the similarities and mismatches between these two types of laptops.

Netbooks are commonly small and weak laptops, which has a screen size of 10in. These laptops have limited features and applications. They are commonly used to do basic jobs like surfing the web, mailing and writing an article. They have slow microprocessor and low-storage capacity.

Another serious limitation is the unavailability of optical drives like CD/DVD drives. There is also difference in price. Netbooks have price ranging from $400 to $800. Many of these low-cost laptops come with Linux instead of Microsoft Windows. If any one have Windows, it will be windows XP or less and not Vista. This is because microprocessor is weak in performance. Netbook has extremely low battery life nearly 3-4 hrs. Notebook will have nearly 9hrs battery life.

Dell, HP and Sony provide low-weight Notebook in the cost of netbook. In netbook, gaming, multimedia and video editing are limited. Netbooks are simply designed for those users who want a portable device for some basic functionalities. Dell Mini 9 is a netbook where Dell Inspiron 1525 is a notebook.

These are some of the important difference between Netbook and Notebook. You must be vigilant in selecting laptops according to your need.
